Hathersage Pool Trip – Booking

The trip to Hathersage Pool on Saturday 1st April is soon upon us! The pool releases bookings the week before, so you can book for Saturday 1st from this Friday morning at 7 am on their website: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/hathersage-outdoor-pool

The pool has moved to their summer timetable, so instead of swimming at 2 pm as previously suggested, the lane swimming slot is at 1 pm, so we will meet in the cafe just beforehand. Recent reports say that their pool’s boiler is fixed and the water is a toasty 28 degrees!

On Sunday we are planning to swim at the New Bath Hotel in Matlock Bath at 10am. The pool is geothermally heated to around 15 or 17 degrees. They have lane swimming all day and you can book here:

Looking forward to seeing you there!

We’re delighted to welcome directors Patrick McLennan and Samuel Smith for a Live Q&A following this screening.

A gentle portrait of a part of England which should never be lost.”

In a world of flux and chaos, it is almost a shock to discover some experiences remain natural, unhurried and unchanged.
In the middle of London lies Hampstead Heath, 320 hectares of forest and parkland plus three swimming ponds. People swim in them all year round, whatever the weather, just as they did in the time of Keats and Constable.
Capturing the beauty of the English seasons, co-directors Patrick McLennan and Samuel Smith filmed the swimmers over 12 months as they laughed, sang, complained, ruminated, philosophised or simply sought respite from all that life threw at them.

Tynemouth Outdoor Pool Renovation

Jesus Green Pool is one of the few survivors of the lidos built in the UK during the 1920s. Tynemouth Outdoor Pool – like many others – fell into disuse in the 1990s. Today it’s a sad and crumbling rockpool. Now, a charity is raising funds to see it renovated. They’ve launched a community shares offer and so far attracted pledges of more than £300,000. You can help ensure that Tynemouth gets the kind of pool that makes us all love our summers in Cambridge! You can register your interest, find out more, or just spread the word here:
